Ambrettolide carries a soft, smooth musk character with a slightly sweet, animalic undertone, close to the natural musk note found in ambrette seed. It sits quietly in a blend, giving depth and a clean skin-like warmth rather than standing out on its own.
It is used as a base note and fixative in attars, spray perfumes, and musk accords, and is also added to soap, candle, and cosmetic formulations where a long-lasting musk background is wanted.
Dissolve in perfumer's alcohol or a suitable carrier oil before blending into the formula, and use in small proportion alongside other musks or base notes to build the final accord.
