Ambroxan carries a dry, woody-amber character with a soft musky undertone, close to the ambergris note used in fine fragrance work. On its own it reads clean and warm rather than sweet, and it tends to sit in the base of a composition, giving lift and a long dry-down. Diluted at 10% in DPG, it is easier to weigh and mix in small amounts compared to the neat material.
It is used in spray perfumes, attars and other fine fragrance work where an amber-woody-musk base note is needed, and can also be used in soap and cosmetic fragrance bases where the material is compatible.
Add directly to the fragrance or attar base and stir until fully dissolved, adjusting the amount added according to the strength of amber-musk note desired in the final blend.
